Volunteer with us!

Volunteering at Birdsong is a great way to connect with nature, learn new skills, and spend time with gardening friends!

Vegetable Work-Share Program - Participants work in groups of 6 to 12 during a specified 2hr time slot each week. Tasks include routine weeding, planting, harvesting, composting, and seed starting. At the end of each session, participants will receive a share of the harvest, which varies according to season and availability. Note: We currently have a waiting list for this program.

Flower Work-Share Program - Participants meet every Thursday morning (weather permitting) from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. In the early season, tasks primarily involve weeding, seed starting, and planting. Around mid-summer, harvesting becomes the main activity. Participants will receive a bucket of cut flowers weekly, and will have opportunities to learn floral design throughout the season.

Flex Program - Occasionally, we need extra hands for a project or an event. There are also small jobs that always need doing, like weeding pathways, turning compost, and washing pots. Flex volunteers can pick and choose work opportunities without committing to weekly sessions. This option does not include a full share, though volunteers will likely go home with a “thank you” gift of assorted flowers and vegetables.
